ABOUT

The Sydney basin is home to the biggest outdoor art museum in the world.

The area that hosts Sculpture by the Sea is home to the whale/shark rock art, historically Sculpture by the Sea brings foreign sculptures here to celebrate art and culture.

gawura guruwin is a First nations collaborative with the local Aboriginal community that will celebrate continuing First Nations culture and draw attention to the rock art, the beginning of all artforms in the world today.  gawura guruwin will illuminate the whale shark on the sand with a welcome, storytelling, and cultural burning. Sculptures by the Sea is aligned with whale watching season. With the recent humpback caught in nets off Bondi this artwork will be a timely reminder of our connection to our environment and need to preserve it.
